A sikin panjang sword from Northern Sumatra used by various groups such as the Acehnese, Gayo, Alas, and Batak. The steel blade is straight, single- edged, with a deep single fuller following the thickened spine for 3/4 of the blade's length. A pamor pattern is present throughout. The faceted steel bolster in the form of a crown having nine sides. Forked buffalo horn hilt with incised grooved texture. A crack is present to the upper horn hilt, as a common occurence through age on these particular swords.
An authentic, undecorated fighting sword in very good condition. Missing its wooden sheath. Almost certainly from the Aceh War period of the late 19th century.
