A Bedouin or Arab khanjar dagger from Jordan from around the second quarter of the 20th century. The thick and heavy, double- edged curved steel blade has a medial ridge that spans to the sharp acute point. The blade is made from an old file having cross-hatched patterns shown on both sides.
The hilt is composed of two slabs of horn squeezed together by engraved brass bands held in place by circular brass rivets. The sheath with a wooden interior covered in a metal alloy of tin or tin brass, heavily decorated in filigree designs, red and blue glass stones with a silver wire brass chape. Two circular imprints may have contained old coins or coin impressions. The rear side of the sheath is iron with an upper and lower belt loop. An older and authentic Arab khanjar from Jordan of Bedouin craftsmanship.
