Arm dagger of fine quality from the Azande of the Southern Sudan region. This example has a double-edged steel blade with five shallow fullers that taper to a spear point. The hilt is finely carved from elephant ivory engraved with black circle-dot motifs and linear designs. The pommel is disc-shaped with a brass rosette. The sheath is crocodile skin with detailed red tooled leather work and a connecting leather arm loop. Fine craftsmanship example and larger dimensions than usual, as the majority of these are smaller in variation than the typical Sudanese arm daggers.
